The moment has finally come! A Game of The Year edition for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is on the way.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt initially launched in May of 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Since that time, various free DLC packs and two expansions for the game have been released. In fact, the last expansion called Blood and Wine, came out just this past May and was highly praised by us and pretty much everyone else. CD Projekt Red made sure their fans would be kept busy with their expansive title.

GOTY Edition For The Witcher 3 Inbound

The news that The Witcher 3 would be getting a Game of The Year edition came from a statement made to the people at Polygon:

“With all the free DLC and updates the game received so far, including significant changes to the game’s interface and mechanics, many gamers have asked us if we’re working on some sort of a ‘Game of the Year Edition,’” said game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. “I’m happy to confirm – yes, plans are in motion to release such an edition. We’ll release more details, including the release date, in the future.”

There you have it folks, The GOTY edition of Wild Hunt will soon become a thing and for those who never got around to the finale, this edition is the ideal purchase.

This information first came through Eurogamer when a rating for the GOTY edition was spotted on USK, Germany’s ratings board. Eurogamer even went on to give a release date of August 26 for the GOTY edition, through an anonymous source. However, a representative for CD Projekt Red told Polygon that the company “currently [doesn’t] have any details to share on when it will be released.”

So as of this moment, we’ll have to just play the waiting game and see what happens. August 26th sounds like a reasonable window to look forward to. We’ll update the story once we have more information.
