The University of Advancing Technology are tonight hosting a Game Jam – where an individual or team have 48 hours to create a game based off a certain theme that is revealed at the start of the event.
The last night of the Jam involves pre-determined judges playing and rating each game based on certain categories. And the judges could be anyone – they are unannounced until after the time runs out. That means that they could be students, faculty, or even local developers in no way related to the school. After judging, awards will be given, and the three best over all games will get some great prizes – Fry’s Electronic gift certificates, or maybe even a fancy trophy.
If you’re lucky enough to get down to UAT tonight, you’ll meet some great people and have a load of fun. And if you can’t find a team, the organizers will help you find other lone rangers so you can team up and create a game together. Or if you’re the type that only gets frustrated and angry when in a team, you can go it alone. It’s probably not the best idea if you’re new to Jamming, but if you’re up for it, give it a shot!
You can register for the Game Jam here, and you’ll find it in rooms 106 and 107 at UAT.
