Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition Comes With Gears Collection

Microsoft will be giving all those who purchase and play Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition between launch and the end of the year the gift of the entire Gears Collection.

Microsoft have made a smart move, by offering the entire Gears Collection to those who play Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition. The reason such a move is a smart one, is based on how they have decided to push out the collection. If you play Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition online from Aug. 25 through Dec. 31, 2015, you will be gifted the Gear Collection through Xbox One backwards compatibility.

Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition

Microsoft dropped the bomb at E3 2015 with their announcement of backwards compatibly and now they are using the feature in a very smart way. Microsoft have ‘bigged up’ the Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition, stating that:

“You’ll get the complete remastering of the original game – painstakingly reimagined from the ground up with stunning next-gen graphics, recaptured and rebuilt cinematics, and modernized gameplay for an even better experience.”

Not to mention the new maps, missions, modes and exclusive access the Gears 4 beta launching Spring 2016. The game collection will be supported on backwards compatibility at launch, so if you own the other Gears titles on Xbox 360, you will be able to play your old saves whilst utilizing next-gen features. The most exciting feature, with backwards compatibility, is the ability to play your Gears games online with friends on other consoles. So you could jump on an online game in Gears Of War 3 with someone playing their Xbox 360, while you play on your Xbox One.

So, backwards compatibility is coming out of the gate strong, and it’s going to be exciting to experience what else the feature has to offer. For more information, be sure to check out the official post on the Xbox blog.
