In an exclusive image gallery, The Coalition unveils more details about Gears of War 4 and promises more horror, more action and an intense combat experience.
The Coalition is a rather unknown studio inside the videogame industry but it has embarked in a very ambitious project along with Microsoft. Namely, to bring back to life a very classic flagship from Xbox, Gears of War. The kickstart of the franchise comes amidst wings of change while bringing us back to the original horror element of the first title. And all the action, of course.
Some lucky folks at Game Informer had a chance to look to a game demo and transmit the news to everybody. Gears of War 4 will bring more gore than previous installments and interesting combat experiences, with brand new execution styles, as well as new enemies. Players will have more chance to interact with the environment while on a mission as well as pursue new tactical possibilities. In the screenshot gallery we can see, for instance, the “vault kick,” which is designed to let players slide over a piece of cover and kick an enemy in the face. If you are quick, you could use this stun feature to finish off that annoying enemy that has been hunting you down. Quite convenient!
While nothing has been further shown on an official level, these images already give us a hint of what we could expect for the next installment.
Gears of War 4 and The Coalition
The Coalition is a relatively new cousin in the video game industry – and it certainly has an interesting story of its own. Founded in Vancouver back in 2010, it was supposed to work on some minor Microsoft titles but two years later the studio got closed, only to be re-opened some months after as Black Tusk Studios. After Microsoft acquired the rights for the Gears of War series from Epic Games in 2014, it fell on Black Tusk to revamp the franchise with a new approach. Rod Fergusson, previous Gears of War produced, change from Epic to Black Tusk as well, and announced on June last year that they were becoming The Coalition again.
The studio runs currently with a team of 200 developers and they are committed to take the franchise to the next level.
Gears of War 4 is an Xbox One exclusive but a PC version is possibly in the pipeline. It would not come as a surprise (some weeks ago Microsoft announced that Quantum Break will be ready for PC as well) and a lot of gamers would appreciate that. Assuming that this is the case, it will be interesting to check whether it comes with cross-platform features. So far, nothing has been confirmed in this respect.
The same goes for its official release date. Rumor has it that the game could launch a little sooner than expected… But everything indicates that we will need to wait several months to get our hands on it.
