Gamescom 2013 | InFAMOUS: Second Son Gets a New Character

Sony released more information on InFAMOUS: Second Son at Gamescom this week, including the introduction of a new protagonist (or possibly antagonist). Her name is Fetch, and a trailer from Sony shows that she’s a bit… special.

We learn a few new things about the PS4 exclusive from this trailer. First of all, Fetch seems to be a vigilante, much like new series lead Delsin and previous main character Cole, but whether or not her motivations are pure is still up in the air. We also learn that Fetch‘s powers are light-based, and it would seem that Delsin also has the ability to absorb the abilities of other super beings… at the end of the trailer, he very obviously knows how to use Fetch‘s powers. That could make for some very interesting strategic possibilities.

We also get to see more of the series’ staple “cause chaos and destroy things” gameplay, and Delsin‘s smoke-based abilities definitely look like they have more in common with fire than with a choking gas. There seems to be a story conflict between Delsin and his brother on what to do with other people like him, which could also prove to make for some compelling storytelling moments.

Sucker Punch is shooting for an early 2014 release for InFAMOUS: Second Son, meaning the game will hit the PS4‘s launch window, but not the 11/15/13 launch date specifically. We’ll keep you posted on the game’s development, and will have a full review available once it hits stores.
