Games Done Quick Organizes Charity Stream for Hurricane Harvey

GDQ speedrunners to help hurricane victims

Games Done Quick, widely known as one of the preeminent charity stream organizations, is coming together to help victims of Hurricane Harvey. Starting this Friday, GDQ is hosting a 48 hour stream to raise money going to a local Houston area charity. GDQ brings speedrunners from around the globe together to show off their skills for great charities.

GDQ is asking that speedrunners sign up for the marathon via Google to reserve a spot on stream. The stream will take place on GDQ’s official Twitch channel between Friday at 7pm CST through Sunday 7pm CST. The registration window for signups will understandably be small so speedrunners hoping to join up will have to be “quick”.

GDQ hosts two weeklong charity streams each year. SGDQ 2017, the most recent charity stream, raised $1.75 million back in July. The upcoming schedule for AGDQ 2018, which takes place in January, was just announced on the GDQ website a few days ago.

Gaming communities coming together to help out people in need is the type of environment we all can get behind. If anyone knows how to generate big money for charity while backing in some of the best gaming skill, it’s GDQ. Let’s all stop by this weekend to catch a few runs and donate what we can for a good cause.
