Things are going to get a little less terrifying at Camp Crystal Lake with brand new content coming to Friday The 13th.
After the game’s rocky launch, Gun Media has decided to reward the patience of players and wanted to make up for the issues that have been plaguing online servers since launch. So when is the content coming? Well, today.
Gun Media’s head honcho, Wes Keltner, has taken to Twitter to announce the first batch of free content for the game.
So if you’ve skipped over the video to read on, here’s a handy list of what to expect:
- Two new outfits for each counselor
- Free CP (in-game currency used to unlock content) to spend
- Double XP weekend: June 23rd to 25th
- Retro Jason skin with retro soundtrack
Yep. You read that right. The retro skin is based off the Jason from the 1989 Friday The 13th game. The one where it looks like Jason is wearing a purple jumpsuit and a blue mask. A lot of gamers had been clamoring for it since the Kickstarter days and it seems like Gun Media managed to find a way to obtain the license for it.
The game’s reception exceeded Gun Media’s expectation as a whopping 75 000 players tried to get online on Day 1 (they expected 30K). Which lead to the servers getting overwhelmed, Jason’d if you will.
While I’ve been considering myself lucky to play over 30hrs since the May 26th launch (life got in the way), a lot of players have not been so lucky. They’ve encountered various matchmaking issues across PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Some have reported that it can take north of ten minutes just to find a game at launch before support patches rolled out.
Gun Media plans on supporting Friday The 13th with content for the foreseeable future with single player content hitting late this summer.
