First Public Showing of Skyrim confirmed for QuakeCon 2011

I was one of the few members of the press who got to witness the awesomeness of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in Bethesda’s private “movie theater.” From the minute the lights went down jaws across the room dropped as we witness one of the most visually gripping presentations on the show floor. Skyrim is incredible, and today it was confirmed that it will be shown publicly for the first time at QuakeCon 2011.

Recently at E3 2011, Skyrim was awarded over 25 awards, received 45 nominations and was voted ‘Best Console Game’ and ‘Best Role Playing Game’ by the Game Critics Awards, an independent group made up of journalists from 31 leading North American media outlets that cover the videogame industry. The game will be released worldwide on November 11, 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Games for Windows.

Along with that, id Software’s own John Carmack will be delivering the festival’s keynote address. Besides Skyrim attendees will also be able to witness the first public demo of Prey 2 and play RAGE on the show floor.

QuakeCon 2011 will take place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, TX. The event remains FREE to general admission and BYOC attendees thanks to the support of id and Bethesda Softworks, as well as the QuakeCon volunteer staff and the 2011 event sponsors and exhibitors. Doors to the QuakeCon BYOC will open on Thursday, August 4th at 9:00am CST and will remain open through 12:00pm CST on Sunday, August 7th.

QuakeCon Exhibit Hall Hours are:

Thursday, August 4, 2011 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
