Ubisoft has released its first gameplay trailer for the fourth installment in the Call of Juarez series, Call of Juarez Gunslinger.
Unlike 2011’s The Cartel, Gunslinger takes us back to the Old West and all its tumbleweed-rolling, six shooter-toting glory. Featuring a heavy dose of historical flavor, this Call of Juarez title’s storyline includes encounters with several of the West’s most legendary criminals such as Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, and Wesley Hardin.
Call of Juarez Gunslinger makes its way to Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, and PC this year; Ubisoft has not confirmed a specific release date. Gunslinger is rated M.
Once again, this Call of Juarez is being developed by Polish studio Techland, the same team behind Dead Island and the upcoming Dead Island Riptide.
Perhaps a Western-themed Gunslinger will put the series back on the map. Following Bound in Blood, which averaged a 77.5 on Metacritic, 2011’s The Cartel, a current day take on the Western genre, was released to poor reviews (45/47/47 on Metacritic).
If you’re going to next weekend’s PAX East, you’ll get a chance to play Gunslinger at Ubisoft’s booth. For more PAX East information, head over to their site, and stay tuned with The Game Fanatics.
