Square Enix had teamed up with the American Red Cross for a special event throughout the summer in order to collect blood from college campuses across Southern California inspired by the incredibly popular Final Fantasy XIV.
Kicking off on June 13th, during E3 2017, and running through July 27th, Square Enix and the American Red Cross drove around in a Stormblood-themed bloodmobile. The blood drive began in the days leading up to the successful June launch of Stormblood. FFXIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida presented a $50 000 donation to American Red Cross on behalf of Square Enix.
The blood drive helped save over 1200 across North America thanks to over 400 pints of blood collected. Square Enix released a video capturing the drive. If you want to know more, feel free to head over the official website.
For those who have been living under a rock, Final Fantasy XIV is a Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in the Final Fantasy universe. The game was first released in 2010 for PC. Then in 2013, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn made its debut on consoles via the PS3. The game is now available for PS4, Xbox One and OS X. As of June 2016, the game reached a cumulative of over 6 million players.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn takes places in Eorzea, following the events of the original game which was released on PC in 2010 where Bahamut had completely destroyed Eorzea. Luckily, players escape the chaos via time travel. A Realm Reborn tells the story of Eorzea’s rebirth while players fight off threats from the Garlean Empire.
