Final Fantasy VI Heading to iOS and Android

Takashi Tokita, who is a producer at Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VI will be coming to the iOS and Android later this year.

Gamers will be able to join Terra, Celes, Sabin, Edgar and the rest of the lot as they take down the chaotic evil that is Kefka. Takashi Tokita told Kotaku that Final Fantasy VI will get the same battle system rehaul just like the other Final Fantasy games that went mobile. This can be a blessing and a curse for some Final Fantasy VI fans. The new system will erase the need to grind. However for some, that is one of the perks of a classic Final Fantasy game. The graphics are getting a revamp look as well. The 2D will be more refinished, similar to what was done to Final Fantasy V.

The battle systems have been altered for the other [mobile remakes] for Final Fantasy and VI will be the same. For instance grinding was an issue and people had to spend a lot of time leveling up. Now on the mobile devices the battle systems have been adjusted so you don’t have to fight as much and can enjoy the game for what it is. – Takashi Tokita

If Final Fantasy VI and the other Final Fantasy games that have hit the mobile market do well, fans might get a pleasant surprise. Final Fantasy VII and the rest of the PS1 era games might get the same treatment as Final Fantasy VI and the other games that came before it.
