Far Cry 4 Creative Director Calls Out Pirates

Creative director Alex Hutchinson of Ubisoft Montreal addressed PC players’ complaints about problems with Far Cry 4‘s field of view.

“PC players! If you’re online complaining about the lack of FOV control … You pirated the game.”

Alex Hutchinson (@BangBangClick)

Cue the immediate rebuttals from pirates relating to the poor performance of the universally abhorred UPlay, the terrible PC ports in general by Ubisoft, and attacks on Ubisoft‘s ethics and business practices.

Regardless of how you feel about a company, piracy is piracy. If you want to send any developer a message, don’t play their games. Pirated or not if you play the game and like it you’re likely to influence others to get the game, partially defeating the supposed message you’re claiming to send.

The fact that many people complain about Ubisoft games and then play them anyway is proof that they’re doing something right, so maybe Far Cry 4 is worth the purchase.
