The latest addition to the ever growing Roster of the upcoming Street Fighter V has been unveiled to be fan favorite Rainbow Mika, who has been absent from the franchise since her debut in Street Fighter Alpha 3!
Rainbow Mika (commonly known as R. Mika) is a professional wrestler by trade who had been trained by her tag partner, Yoko Harmegeddon. During the events of Street Fighter Alpha 3, R. Mika encounters Zangief during her publicity tour where they end up working together to destroy M. Bison’s Psycho Drive machine. After many months the two reunite for a public match, and though Zangief won the bout R. Mika still held him in high esteem, with the former remarking that though she has a high wall to climb, she is well underway.
Capcom have stated that, “R. Mika’s wrestling prowess will be on full display in Street Fighter V, as she dazzles opponents with a wide variety of high-flying moves.” It also appears that she has swapped out Harmeggedon for her new wrestling tag-team partner Nadeshiko.
“By calling Nadeshiko at the right time using R. Mika’s V-Trigger ability, players will be able to set up sneaky attacks and punishing command grab mix-ups that are sure to deliver devastating amounts of damage.”
R. Mika’s new V-Skill & V-Trigger actions really play to the character’s strengths and add an excellent level of flamboyancy to her wrestling persona;
Mic Performance – R. Mika pulls out her trusty microphone and gives a heart-pumping monologue to the crowd. The longer the buttons are held down, the more powerful her normal and special throws become! During her monologue state, she is able to absorb one hit from the opponent and can also cancel the speech at any time by letting go of the buttons, causing her to fling the mic at the opponent.
Nadeshiko (3 Variations) – Depending on the direction held during the V-Trigger activation, R. Mika’s faithful tag-team partner will deliver a surprising, high flying attack at the opponent from different angles: neutral (body splash from above), hold back (dropkick from the front), hold forward (dropkick from behind).
If you’re fortunate enough to visit PAX Prime this weekend in Seattle you will have the opportunity to grapple with R. Mika in a brand new playable demo available at the Capcom Booth!
