Fallout Shelter Hits PC and Gets a Huge Mobile Update This Week

Fallout Shelter

Fallout Shelter is flourishing this week, with the mobile game getting the big 1.6 update and its vault universe coming to all PC users out there.

A countdown started on Fallout’s Twitter page two days ago and got all Fallout Shelter fans rather excited. Its name is Update 1.6 and it’s the biggest update done so far for the mobile “build your own vault” game. On top of that, Bethesda has also confirmed that the title is coming to PC the very same day.

It remains to be seen whether this version will present any differences to the original mobile edition. Bethesda has also not confirmed whether we will be able to import our mobile saves to the new platform. Something a lot of players could benefit from, on the other hand.

What does this Update 1.6 bring? Concrete details are scarce but since E3 we know that it basically offers further content and gameplay mechanics. They are delivering new locations to visit, enemies to defeat and a new lineup of characters to add to our vaults. On top of that, we’ll be able to send our dwellers on quests and missions and they are presenting an “all-new” combat system. As we say, specifics as to what they mean by this remain to be seen.

Either way, expect the release to happen either this Wednesday or Thursday (depends on where Bethesda puts the time stamp).

Fallout Shelter: Bethesda Conquers Mobile

Bethesda’s first leap into the world of mobile/tablet gaming has been quite successful. By their own accounts, this was a rather unexpected event – a massive hit, with more than 50 million downloads since their June launch last year. Fallout Shelter follows the free-to-play model with the presence of micro transactions and it’s reportedly a respectable money-maker.

The studio’s director Todd Howard confirmed back at the DICE 2016 summit that they were blown away by the success of Fallout Shelter. This gave them motivation to focus on developing more mobile experiences.

“We’re gonna do more”, he confirmed, while stressing that they want to deliver deep and engaging games. As always, they haven’t shared the course of action, whether these games will be brand new titles or more spin-offs based on some of the amazing worlds they have created so far. A combination of both would be best, we reckon.
