Facebook, while going through a large revamp of many of the sites features, has improved its privacy and sharing options.
Users will now have the ability to approve or deny photos that they have been tagged in before they appear on their profile. If someone tags you in their photo and you want to remove your tag, you will now be presented with a prompt that asks if you’d like to simply remove your tag, or you can request that the photo be removed. You’ll also be given the choice to block the person.
They’ve also streamlined a few other privacy features such as “View Profile As…” where you can see your profile as someone else on your friends list would see (in case you’re looking to hide certain things from certain people). The privacy settings on individual wall posts has also been simplified, making it easier to hide certain posts from groups of people. You can also change who sees your statuses after you have already posted, which wasn’t possible before. The “places” feature, which previously was exclusive to smart phones with the Facebook app, can now to used on the website itself.
Also going forward, you can now tag people not in your friends and things you haven’t “liked” in your posts on Facebook. If someone that’s not on your friends list tags you in a post, you will have to approve or deny it before it appears on your wall.
