Electronic Arts benches 'NBA Elite 11'

Electronic Arts’ NBA franchise is officially taking the season off.

The publisher revealed it has cancelled the release ofNBA Elite 11, originally scheduled to launch in October.

During a recent financial call, EA also announced development for the pro basketball simulation would shift to their Tiburon studio, the home to Madden NFL.

In September, EA Sports President Peter Moore surprised many players after writing in his blog NBA Elite 11 would be delayed to give the game additional development time.

NBA Elite had the benefit of play-testing, a demo and a lot of our own research. All that feedback revealed some concerns about gameplay polish,” Moore wrote at the time.

The demo was plagued with several bugs, including the ability for players to nail hook shots from anywhere on the court.

NBA Elite was part of EA’s effort to relaunch the strugglingNBA Live brand, which had been dominated by rival franchiseNBA 2K. The game was to introduce a fresh control scheme where players would control almost all on-court actions using the two thumbsticks on the controller.
