Elder Scrolls games have featured impressive voice actors before, but Elder Scrolls Online may just take the cake.
Publisher Bethesda announced the game’s cast via a press release today. It features Hollywood mainstays John Cleese, Kate Beckinsale, and Alfred Molina. The full cast is featured in a 17-minute video featuring the cast talking about their experiences with their characters.
Cleese stars as Cadwell, whom he sees as the game’s comic relief. Cadwell is described as both a cheerful and endearingly mad lost soul, which should prove to be an interesting combination with Cleese at the helm. Kate Beckinsale is Queen Ayrenn, the leader of the Aldmeri Dominion and Queen of the High Elves. Beckinsale mentioned her unfamiliarity with the world of video games, but seems to have come out impressed. Molina plays Abnur Tharn, “a man who has a very very high opinion of himself…and a man who has a low opinion of others.” Tharn is the head of the Empire’s Elder Council. Based on Molina’s opinion on the council, he should prove to be an intriguing character.
Rounding out the cast is Bill NIghy, Lynda Carter, Malcolm McDowell, Michael Gambon, Peter Stormare, Jim Ward, Jennifer Hale, and Kevin Michael Richardson. Bethesda has clearly gone all out with Elder Scrolls Online. We’ll see if it pays off soon enough.
