Since the days of Knockout Kings, which was followed by the Fight Night franchise, Electronic Arts has dominated the boxing simulation genre. Despite its niche audience, the series has wowed gamers with ultra-realistic visuals, dramatic special effects and precise, physics-driven gameplay.
For the next entry in the series, Fight Night Champion, EA is going all out to take the sweet science and recreate with absolute realism. The new preview trailer, which details the game’s stamina and endurance engine, provides a glimpse into how far the development team is going to use realistic animations and other visual effects to create realistic indicators of the boxer’s condition.
In an earlier release announcing the new title, Andrew Wilson, senior vice president of worldwide development at EA Sports said the Fight Night franchise has consistently provided one of the best experiences of any sports game.
“Fight Night Round 4 was a genre defining game, and led the way as the industry transitioned to physics-based sports games. EA Sports Fight Night Champion will again forge new ground and deliver a sports experience unlike anything seen in the genre to date,” Wilson said.
Fight Night Champion is expected to release on the Xbox 360 and PS3, and is currently slated for release on March 1, 2011.
