E3 2014 I 5 Games Sony Needs to Win E3

With E3 2014 just around the corner,  a blistering start, the PS4 continues to perform at a steady pace month after month, outselling its competitor by a significant margin. But with Microsoft slashing the price off the Xbox One and the removal of Kinect, Sony looks to have their hands full as they attempt to remind gamers why the best place to play is still on PlayStation.

5. Uncharted, Naughty Dog

This game needs a proper reveal. After some key departures from Naughty Dog, Sony will need to stabilize the negativity and uncertainty surrounding the game. The best way to do this is to show off a gameplay trailer and put all of our worries at ease, for now. After all, this is the landmark franchise for the PlayStation brand and Sony needs it to be front and center and in good shape.

4. The Order: 1886, Ready at Dawn

This is Sony’s big exclusive for next year and an impressive showing at E3 would go a long way in cementing this new IP’s success. We’ve only seen a trailer and a short gameplay clip but there’s no denying how beautiful this game looks. Look for Ready at Dawn to showcase the absolute seamlessness between cut scene and gameplay; a feature the studio has been proudly touting.

3. The Last Guardian, Sony Japan Studio

The Last Guardian 1

Cue the sighs and the head-shaking. This elusive title shows up on everyone’s E3 wish list year after year but we still hold out hope that it somehow finds its way onto the stage. Rumors of it running on PS4 have been running rampant ever since Shuhei Yoshida hinted at having played the game. If it was too demanding for the PS3, we can rest assured that the power of the PS4 can surely tackle its problematic development cycle

2. Guerrilla Games New IP

Killzone needs a break. Although Shadow Fall enjoyed success as a launch title, it is about time the guys over at Guerrilla Games bring us something fresh and new. Rumors of their next PS4 game point towards an open-world RPG with the writer from Fallout: New Vegas penning the script. They need all the help they can get in the story department as storytelling and dialogue has not been Killzone’s strongest suit. Expect eye-popping graphics as Guerrilla Games takes the stage at E3.

1. Project Beast, From Software

What more can be said? A next-gen Souls game exclusive to the PS4?  This is mic-dropping stuff, and if the rumors are true, Sony should close the show out with this big reveal and a release date for later this year. It’s been widely known that the original creator of the Souls franchise, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has been working on his own game during the development of Dark Souls 2; a project he was not involved in.  The leaked pictures look convincing and it does look like it came from a trailer which is awfully difficult to fake, no matter how skilled you are. This would be the quite the ace in the hole for Sony and a definite winning blow to finish off E3.
