E3 2013 | Rovio Entertainment and PowerA Licensing Partnership is For The (Angry) Birds

Still haven’t gotten enough Angry Birds? PowerA is now flinging the fowls’ likeness onto more merchandise and accessories, thanks to their recent partnership with Rovio Entertainment.

Continuing their footsteps of adding huge franchises such as Star Trek, Star Wars, and Call of Duty to their lineup, the Washington-based game accessory company recently showcased items from the Rovio Entertainment’s properties of Angry Birds, Angry Birds Space, and Bad Piggies among their booth displays at this year’s E3.

Fans can expect to see iPhone cases with lenticular graphics, whose type of printing creates a 3D-like image (which can change depending on its angle, not unlike a hologram). The “Triple Play” Stylus Kit includes three retractable styluses for accuracy on the Nintendo DS, each of which features a game characters face on its topper, flipped over to reveal the official Angry Birds logo.

What mobile device would be complete without the likeness of the game on its exterior? “Classic Bird Cases” transform iPhones into the very characters featured by the apps therein, complete with a few plastic “feathers” extending beyond the rectangular frame of the phone.  Lastly, Nintendo DS cases molded after the facial characteristics of both pigs and birds neatly keep handhelds and styluses from flying out of place.

As Rovio Entertainment’s partnership with PowerA is anticipated to span multiple years, forthcoming products including controllers and headphones for gameplay can be expected from the brand. Naz Cuevas, Rovio’s Head of Consumer Products in the US, explains how the companies’ combination of quality and popularity will prove to be successful among their mutual followers.

PowerA has an exceptional track record for creating high-quality mobility and video game accessories that will be a great compliment to Rovio’s brands. We think Angry Birds fans will be eager to get their hands on these creative products.”
