This past weekend at E3, gameplay for the Tomb Raider reboot was shown, and I must say… it looks beautiful. With immaculate, Uncharted-esque cinematics, a revamped Ms. Croft, and a new take on an old tale, Tomb Raider (2012) is sure to deliver.

This installment of the Tomb Raider series brings us a naive, 21 year old Lara Croft who, unlike before, lacks the skills needed to survive. In the gameplay, we watch as Lara struggles to escape from a cave on a mysterious island, and as you can see, she endures quite a bit of pain as the cave begins to collapse around her.
The great thing about this game, is that we’re “starting from scratch” with Lara: building her confidence, teaching her the skills she needs, and, in a sense, molding her into the tomb raider.
“It’s a complete shift from the confident, bulletproof Lara that we’ve known for so long, and it’s fascinating. It’s like getting to travel back in time and meet your sweetheart before they became the person you first met. You can see and share the experiences that ended up making Lara into the Tomb Raider.” – The Escapist

Judging by the trailer, it seems like someone’s been “doing their homework,” and while Tomb Raider may be very similar to Uncharted, it’s packed with it’s own originality by showing us a side of Lara that we’ve never seen before… and this is extremely intriguing. The Tomb Raider reboot is set to release in Fall 2012 for PC, XBOX 360, and PlayStation 3.
