DLC Quest Mocks The Gaming Industry's Infatuation With Pricey DLC

Going Loud Studios is taking a stand, and by “stand” I mean releasing a video game; a video game that mocks the gaming industries’ need to “provide” DLC for games. Never fear, DLC Quest is here! DLC Quest is a satirical video game poking fun at larger game companies and their need to release DLC for games that you’ve purchased, and charging you for them.

This platformer seems pretty straightforward. You’re the good guy, and you need to save your girl from the dreaded bad guy. Sounds simple right? That’s when they hit you with the need for DLC. Oh, I’m sorry, you can’t reach that ledge? Pay up for the double jump DLC. Wanna pause your game? Yeah, that’ll cost you some coin as well. Not real coin though, because that would just be evil, right?

You traverse the levels picking up coins to pay for the abilities provided in “DLC packs” within the game. This game has it all. It makes fun of all types of DLC that have been released for video games, and shows where this new trend will lead (well…probably).

DLC Quest is available now for download on Xbox Live Indie Games for 80 MSP… wait, wha?

[quote]”The irony of making a game that mocks downloadable content and releasing it in downloadable form is not lost on me,” says Ben Kane, the lone developer of Going Loud Studios. “Heck, if all goes well, I’ll jump the shark and make some DLC for DLC Quest.”

Touche, Ben…touche.

Let’s take a look at the trailer…
