The Division Is Ubisoft’s Fastest Selling Game Ever

Gamers have come out in droves to play The Division, Ubisoft’s newest franchise.

The franchise has broken various sales records accordin to the pubilsher, as announced on their blog. Not only is The Division Ubisoft’s fastest selling game over a 24-hour span, but also set single-day sales records on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Considering how many wondered if we’d even see the game this time a year ago, this is a beyond impressive feat. In addition to the announcement, Ubisoft’s blog included the following quote:

“The launch of The Division is a tremendous achievement for Ubisoft, and demonstrates our unrivaled capacity to create fantastic new game brands and transform them into entertainment blockbusters,” said Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO, Ubisoft. “This is a momentous day for Ubisoft, but more importantly it marks the start of millions of players’ enduring engagement in The Division’s game world, which we are confident they will love.”

Due to the game’s persistent online nature, many people wondered what The Division’s first day live would be like. Aside from occasional hiccups (including the complete crashing of UPlay at launch) and griefers, the experience has been pretty pleasant, a far cry from the launch other online games such as SimCity of Diablo III. Combined with the positive word of mouth and impressive sales, it’s a pretty good start for The Division. The key moving forward, though, is maintaining that success. It’s great that Ubisoft launched a title that people are excited about. Whether or not that excitement remains within the coming months will be key moving forward.

You can expect plenty more coverage on The Division here at The Game Fanatics within the coming weeks. We’re all pretty excited about it; are you as well? Share your experiences in the comments below!
