A Sega Genesis classic, Castle of Illusion, has been officially announced to be released this Summer 2013.Castle of Illusion focuses around everyone’s favorite mouse, Mickey Mouse, and takes him through a classic 2D platformer adventure.
The re-make of Castle of Illusion is not only getting a polish over to graphics, but Sega has also stated that the game is somewhat of a re-imagining as well. The original Castle of Illusion had some elements that needed to be excluded from the original release in 1990 due to the limitations at the time.
Sega‘s Australian team is working very closely with one of the original directors of the game, who is now working at Disney Interactive. Sega of Australia had the following to say regarding the development of the re-make.
We are having a blast working with her to realize many of the elements that were intended for the original game, but couldn’t be achieved until now due to the technical limitations of previous generation consoles. If you have played the original game, you will also see that we have kept intact many of the major iconic elements of the game that helped define this groundbreaking game at the time of its original release.
Castle of Illusion is set to release this year on Summer of 2013. The game will be releasing on the PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade, and PC.
