The once exclusive PC Diablo III is making its way to a console near you.
On September 3rd, console gamers will be able to discover the popular action-RPG franchise for themselves when Activision/Blizzard releases the game for Xbox 360 and PS3. For those holding out for the next console-generation, a PS4 version is scheduled to be released in 2014. There’s no word on an Xbox One version, but we’ll update this story should something come up.
There’s also no word on a Wii U version, but sadly, I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
The console versions of Diablo III will feature local co-op and offline multiplayer. The controversial always-online requirement present in the PC version won’t be here. The real money auction house, another controversial feature in the PC version, isn’t available for the console versions either.
A press release touts how the console controls have been “custom-tailed for gamepad-driven action, with a dynamic camera perspective that puts your hero front and center, as well as an all-new user interface and an intuitive control system that make vanquishing evil feel like second nature.” To sum it up nicely, it still plays smoothly should you use a controller over a mouse and keyboard.
We expect some hands-on time with Diablo III at E3 next week. We’ll be sure to share our thoughts.
