Rumor about Diablo III being created for the home console is the only type of Diablo III news that has been surfacing as of late. However, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime has recently announced beta details to the PC version of Diablo III while on a conference call discussing the finical reports of the first quarter of 2011.
The Diablo III beta is said to launch in the third quarter of 2011 and it will be public with the possibility of a release of the full game later this year.
Even though the highlights from the call state that there is no release date for Diablo III at this point in time, a public beta set for around July – September, sounds like things are setting into place but I wouldn’t be surprised if Diablo III slips into 2012, as Mass Effect 2 has.
On the Diablo III front, I am pleased to report that we begun internal company-wide testing last week. The game is looking great and we are currently targeting a Q3 launch for external beta testing. The development team is working hard to try and launch Diablo III this year. But I want to be clear that we do not have an official release date or window yet. As always, we will not compromise the quality of the game in order to hit a window. – Mike Morhaime
