On June 5, 2013 Square Enix Ltd announced a new installment for the Deus Ex series named Deus Ex: The Fall. This new Deus Ex game will be developed for mobile devices and tablets. Deus Ex: The Fall will be a story driven action role playing game and is also the first Deus Ex to be released on a mobile device. The story will take place in the year 2027, picking up where the novel Deus Ex: The Icarus Effect ends.
The main character will be Ben Saxon, a former British SAS mercenary with a familiar augmentation similar to the Adam Jensen’s from Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Ben seeks to investigate a drug conspiracy involving powerful corporations that have seized control of the government and command the drug supply that augmented humans need to survive. Ben must also go up against his former private military employers, the Tyrants, in order to find out the truth behind the conspiracy with the time running out for all augmented humans, including Ben’s own life.
Deus Ex: The Fall is being developed by Square Enix Mobile Division in Europe, as well as collaborating with the Deus Ex: Human Revolution team Eidos-Montreal and N-Fusion. Jean-Francios Dugas, Executive Game Director at Eidos-Montreal said, “The team has done an incredible job creating a whole new story and controls for intuitive touch screen game play whilst staying true to the DEUS EX universe. Players can expect exploration, action, hacking, stealth, social enhancers, player choice and consequence- the full DEUS EX experience.”
Deus Ex: The Fall will be available to play at E3 and will be released this summer for $6.99.
