Thank goodness that we don’t live in a world where people think vampires sparkle.
Oh wait, we do. Well, thank goodness we don’t live in a world where everyone thinks vampires sparkle, because Realmforge Studios sure doesn’t.
Dark, an upcoming third person action stealth game that, you guessed it, has our “anti-hero” actually become a vampire. Realmforge is developing the game, while Kalypso Media is publishing it. It’ll launch next year for both Xbox 360 and PC.
The trailer focuses on, well, darkness. While using a more cel-shaded approach in terms of graphics, that comic book feel we get from, say, a Borderlands wasn’t present due to the lighting employed. Not that this is a bad thing, keep in mind; I enjoyed the visual look from the tease and I’m curious to see how they can keep it up without the visuals becoming repetitive.
Then again, you are playing a vampire. I’d be shocked if there was any daylight.
Kalypso Media teased some of the gameplay highlights, which feature stealth based third person action, RPG elements, such as using conversations with other characters to progress through the story and being able to level up various abilities, i.e. combat and evasion, a “powerful and intelligent” AI sytem, and the ability to bring fear into your enemies before disappearing in a puff of smoke. That last tidbit will be pretty nifty to try out.
Again, Dark, from Realmforge Studios and Kalypso Media, is due out next year. In the mean time, here’s the teaser:
