Danny DeVito Crushes The Dreams Of All Pokémon Fans

Since the trailer of Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo premiered in January, fans have campaigned to get famous character actor Danny DeVito to lend his voice to a deep-voice version of Pikachu. However, that dream has been crushed.

In an appearance at the Paley Center in Los Angeles, Jonathan Bilski who runs the ‘Things to Do in L.A.’ blog, questioned DeVito about the video game during a live panel with the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia cast.

The Paley Center live-tweeted DeVito’s response in which Devito responded with a “No,” and asked, “What the f*** is Pokemon?”

Let’s be honest, the response is pretty funny. He is a 71-year-old man. Did we really expect him to care about some weird Japanese game where you collect monsters that are on one of them Nintendo machines? Probably not (though he could be joking).

The Change.org petition to get DeVito to be in the game has yet to meet the required 50,000 signers needed in order to get the petition sent over to Game Freak and Nintendo of America. It needs less than 2,000 supporters to reach that mark though.

There is also a video that fans created in which they insert DeVito’s voice into the Japanese trailer, which you can watch below. What do you think about this campaign? Is it awesome or just awesome? Let’s just say it’s awesome. What do you think about DeVito’s response? Let us know in the comments below!
