Cyberpunk 2077 Will Contain “Online” Elements

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 belongs to that list of highly-anticipated games we barely know anything about. The only teaser trailer we have until now dates back to 2013 and since then, CD Project Red has been rather secretive about it, dropping little pieces of info here and there. Enough to let us know that the project is ongoing, slowly but steadily. Keeping us longing for more.

Now we know that Cyberpunk 2077 will contain “online” elements of some capacity. In an interview with Polish investment site Strefa Inwestorow, CEO Adam Kicinski talked about how “online is necessary” in today’s world and that’s a way to make the game more successful commercially-wise. “Online is necessary, or very recommended if you wish to achieve a long-term success,” said Kicinski. “At some point, we have mentioned that there will be a certain online element related to Cyberpunk.”

Hinting at a social hub for Cyberpunk 2077?

Following the company’s secrecy, Adam Kicinski does not state what these online elements may comprise – so we can only wonder. Some rumors started recently, placing a “social hub” at the center of this online experience for the game. If we are to believe these sources, Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a bridge between a single player experience and a multiplayer one. Some have compared it to Destiny 2’s Farm, where players can roam around and receive extra missions and activities to pursue.

The rumor also states that CD Project Red is not looking into turning Cyberpunk into a sci-fi MMO though. Which is, somehow, reassuring to hear. After all, with the exception of Gwent, they have always bet strongly for narrative-driven games and this is something that all fans surely expect from them.

There is currently no release window in place for Cyberpunk 2077. CD Project Red as only stated that the game will come out when it’s ready.

Are you looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077, Fanatics? What are you expecting to see from CD Project Red’s next title? Let the conversation begin in the comment section down below
