Cyberpunk 2077 Teaser Trailer Paints a Dark Future

CD Projekt Red, the awesome dudes behind The Witcher series of games, has just unveiled a teaser trailer for their next game, Cyberpunk 2077.

The trailer shows a woman who has gone insane because of the amount of cybermodifications she has done to herself. The police are sent in with an elite member of the ‘Psycho Squad’ to take her out. I’m a huge fan of futuristic stories and this looks fantastic, but for now it is only a CG trailer.

In addition to the trailer we have some brand new details about Cyberpunk 2077 as well. Apparently the Psycho  Squad exists just to hunt down these, well, psychos. Psychos are those who overuse implants or anything else that alters their body. At a certain point their enhancements revolt against the biological parts and begin to attack other humans as well. At that point the Psycho Squad will be called in.

The game promises to deliver a ‘multi-thread, nonlinear story designed for mature players’ and they know what they are doing, if their previous projects are any indication.

Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in the drug and gang filled metropolis of Night City and the surrounding areas and will let players freely roam around as a character we don’t know anything about yet.

A key point to the game is something called a ‘Braindance.’
Braindances are digital recordings of a person’s experience. The viewer can stream a braindance directly into his neural system via special brain augmentations, called a BD player. Braindances allow the viewer to experience all brain processes registered, including emotions, muscle movements and all stimuli perceived by the recording person.
Now that’s all fine and good until you learn about the black market for these where you can enter the mind of a serial killer. Interested yet? Yeah, I thought so.

As for a possible release date the trailer merely says that it “is coming when it’s ready.”
