Cyberpunk 2077 Could Feature Drivable Vehicles and Flyable Planes

Cyberpunk 2077

A new juicy detail about the secretive Cyberpunk 2077 has been seen in a job listing. CD Projekt Red is currently searching for senior vehicle artists for their future sci-fi RPG.

E3 happened this year without a glimpse of CD Projekt Red’s next project: Cyberpunk 2077. Instead of revealing more details about it, the Polish studio went full-on with Gwent, their standalone card game. Cyberpunk 2077 was announced back in 2012 with a pretty luring trailer but since then we have been totally busy with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (which, by the way, already got a GOTY Edition for all platforms). It’s only now that some sparks of unofficial details appear here and there, enough to keep the interest flowing. Especially considering that The Witcher experience is finished as of now with the release of their last DLC, Blood and Wine.

CD Projekt Red already said that there won’t be anything to show about Cyberpunk 2077 until 2017 or 2018. Their secretiveness is legendary, on the other hand. However, browsing through their job postings has led to an interesting discovery: the presence of drivable vehicles and planes. According to one of their job offers, they are searching for a senior vehicle artist capable of creating “incredibly complex vehicles, planes, bikes, robots and mechanics.” And it seems that we may be able to drive/pilot them. Which is a pretty logical gameplay addition if you think that Cyberpunk 2077 will also be an open world title.

The Witcher 3 already incorporated this feature with Geralt’s mare. With a little bit of polishing, driving and flying through the futuristic and somewhat grim atmosphere of Cyberpunk is a very attractive possibility overall.

What do we Know about Cyberpunk 2077?

Cyberpunk 2077 is a futuristic open world RPG drawn from the tabletop hit from R. Talsorian Games. According to CD Projekt Red, the scope of their next title is massive. And by that we mean, even bigger than that of The Witcher 3. It has been said to happen in a dark future in 2077 where advanced technologies have become “both the salvation and the curse of humanity.” The location we saw in the trailer is Night City, a vicious metropoly bursting with different nationalities and quandaries. On top of the single-player story, the studio has also confirmed that the game will come with a multiplayer mode.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally announced for PC only. But it could well be that we’ll see the title expanding to other platforms. As for a realistic time frame, you should not expect it any time soon. As CD Projekt Red already told us from the very beginning, it will come “when it’s ready.”
