Avengers VS X-Men #1. Reviewed. Just for you. Because you’re awesome. Not for the guy down the street. Not for that girl who makes funny looks at you, but just for you, True Believer. Because you rock. Check it out.
And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a lot of new stuff this week. First and foremost, Age of Apocalypse #2. Two issues in and I am loving this book. It’s dark, gritty, violent, and has a kickass roster. Kinda reminds me of X-Force (Messiah Complex X-Force, not Uncanny). The X-Terminated are a very cool team. Powerful (for humans in a mutant world) on their own, but together, they’re extremely powerful. But they’re only human, which makes it interesting because despite all their skill and weapons, they will always be at a severe disadvantage. But they’ll succeed or die trying. The art is also really great. It’s dark, very muted colors and very sharp angles and lines. Perfect art for this kind of book. This book has really left me wanting more, and I eagerly await the next issue. I am very curious to see where they go and what happens to the X-Terminated.
Also this week we have Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha and Omega #4 (of 5). This side story is nearing its conclusion. It has been a decent story, with below par art. The story itself isn’t bad, but not good enough to warrant its own miniseries. Or perhaps its better off since the main Wolverine and the X-Men run has been very strong, and this arc could have weakened it. Interesting, but by no means a must read. Wolverine and the X-Men #8 brings Sabretooth back into the mix, and gives Genesis and Angel some good page time. If you’re not reading this series yet, do yourself a favor and do. It’s fun and one of the best X-Men runs in recent history.
There is a new Invincible out this week, but I’m waiting on a few back issues to catch up, so that will have to wait for a few, but if you’re caught up, MORE INVINCIBLE! Yeah, you should probably be reading this one too. I also picked up issues two, three and four of Ed Brubaker’s Fatale. I’m a big fan of any Brubaker-Phillips collaboration (Sleeper, Incognito, Criminal), and Fatale looks to continue the trend of awesome. I am very much looking forward to reading it. Who doesn’t love a good noir Femme Fatale?
