CES 2020: JBL Tries Their Hand at Gaming with Their Quantum Lineup

JBL Audio has deep roots when it comes to headsets and headphones. This year at CES, they unveiled their first entry into the gaming arena with the JBL Quantum series of products. The Quantum lineup includes 7 headsets at various price ranges and a set of external speakers. The headsets are what steal the show here. The cheaper headsets are pretty run of the mill and use either a USB or 3.5-millimeter connection. Most of these headsets are geared towards a PC gamer but some of the lower models utilize a 3.5-millimeter connection so they could be used on the console. The various models have really good build quality and a nice feel on the head. Starting with the 400 models, RBG lighting is included along with full 7.1 surround sound.

When you get to the higher end headsets is when JBL starts to shine. JBL’s Quantum engine gives gamers on the pc an experience like none other. The software allows users to fine tweak and tune their audio options to perfection. There are also options for the customization of the RBG lights. Quantum gives the user access to JBL’s proprietary spatial audio features which will be a game-changer in the industry. It gives the feeling of moving sound no matter where you are sitting in the room. Once the headset is configured within the Quantum engine software, movies, music, and games are experienced in a different way. When the headset is turned, a user can zero in on certain areas and sounds in a scene. If the headset is moved, the sound moves with it. Resetting the positioning in the room is as simple as a single button click. This can really give competitive gamers an edge when using the product. To develop these features, JBL let us know that they have been working with competitive gamers to really get everything right.

JBL’s first shot at gaming audio is a very good one. They have put a lot of time and research into these products are delivering something that gamers have not yet experienced. It is hard to explain the spatial audio demo from CES but consumers will have a chance to try these out very soon. Look for these this Quantum line to hit the market this April. Prices will range from as low as $40 to about $250. We can’t wait to spend more time with these products.
