Ever since The Lego Movie became a box office hit, the Lego’s video game series have taken note to the high-end showmanship and creativity that made the flick such a likeable and all-around joy to experience. A trailer was released today for the third installment of the Lego Batman series and in it shows off how the game works with the inclusion of Justice League heroes and how voice actors like Troy Baker and Josh Keaton favor their day jobs. Which is fine; we love them for it.
The voice acting is actually a great thing for the Lego series, and Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham should be no different. The game is expected to come with a giant batch of good guys and bad guys, but in comparison to previous Lego Batman installments, the war will be set in far out galaxies. The decision to move away from Gotham–from Earth compliments the idea of having a large cast. In the trailer, Dee Bradley Baker, who plays Braniac, says that this game will show how immaculate the work of the voice actors can be.
“Each one of the performers that you have in this are top-tier voice actors. It really is a full performance that you’re getting from this,” Baker said.
You’d also be surprised to find that there are a few voice actors in Lego Batman 3 that have migrated from Injustice: Gods Among Us. Richard Epcar and Mark Rolston will be playing as The Joker and Lex Luthor. Adam West will be in this one too….playing as himself.
“They really are some of the most despicable individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with,” Voice Director JB Blanc said. “These guys are highly accomplished and great improvisors. We’ll just spark ideas off of each other and the work becomes really collaborative that way.”
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is set to hit on just about every platform you can think of around Autumn of this year. If you want to take a look at just how well these voice actors can go at it, check the official trailer below.
