SMK has announced a new capacitive touchscreen that can be operated not only by your fingertip like other touchscreens, but by a gloved hand as well.
The new touchscreen is presently focused on in-vehicle navigation systems, which will be pretty useful for those in colder climates. It employs the help of an extra chip that supports high sensitivity detection, partnered with a sensor panel with a high resistance to noise to prevent unwanted detections. This allows the touchscreen to detect the conductive touch of a fingertip even through a glove.
The current panel is a 6.5 inch screen, but can go as large as 8 inches. Hopefully, this screen will be coming to tablets and smartphones in the near future.
