Call of Duty: WWII was revealed last week and it’s going back to its roots. Not many details have been released for the latest Call of Duty title, but more information could have leaked.
During the reveal, Sledgehammer Games gave a quick look at multiplayer, showing dozens of player controlled characters. A recent posting on the Xbox store has shown multiplayer will host two to 48 players.

It’s unlikely that we will see multiplayer matches containing 48 players, as this would stray too far from the familiar path Call of Duty has set for itself. It’s far more likely to be the rumored Headquarters. Not much is known about Headquarters right now, but it seems to be a hub where players can meet up and join online matches. Players will gather to play multiplayer matches, customize gear/classes, and just interact with friends. It seems extremely reminiscent of the Tower in Destiny.
All of this is rumor and speculation right now, but it all seems very possible based on the information we’ve been provided. It’s nice to see the Call of Duty series taking some risks and going back to their roots.
