Call of Duty: Ghosts Could be the End for Modern Warfare

It seems as though Call of Duty: Ghosts could be the end of the Modern Warfare series.  According to Community Manager Tina Palacios, the Ghosts narrative was meant to end the series.  Heavily inspired by Ghost from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Ghosts is Infinity Ward’s main and only focus at this time.

“I can say that our focus and only focus is on Ghosts right now as it is, and we have no other plans at this time… When we were creating Ghosts, we really got inspired by Ghost from Modern Warfare 2, just by how he looks.”

“It made sense for these soldiers we have in Ghosts who want to hide their identities would have the same masks and face paint. I think it would be safe for me to say that just knowing the characters from our previous games didn’t have a back story, that’s what really pushed us forward. We thought we need to really establish that.”

– Tina Palacios, Community Manager

While I am okay with this decision (mainly because I am a huge fan of Ghost himself), I understand that the hardcore Call of Duty players might feel differently because the Modern Warfare games are much more favored than the Black Ops games; not to mention Modern Warfare has been around for years and a lot of players hold the story and soldiers close to their hearts.

Alas, we cannot make any assumptions until after Ghosts is released, so there really is no need to worry (for right now)!  It seems as though Ghosts will achieve impeccable sales and maybe the response will inspire another Modern Warfare title.

Until then, let’s all revel in the glory that is Ghosts and appreciate Infinity Ward‘s attempt to bring us a fresh Call of Duty experience that might actually surprise us and bring the Modern Warfare series to the perfect close.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available on November 5th.
