Borderlands Is Catching A Ride To Xbox One

Major Nelson has unveiled that the popular cel shaded, sci-fi shooter Borderlands will be making it’s way to Xbox One via backwards compatibility.

Borderlands is available now for those who are part of the Xbox One Preview Program and will be made available to everyone else when Backward Compatibility launches publicly this coming November.

It is unlikely that Borderlands‘ sequels Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will make an appearance through the program as the Handsome Collection for Xbox One already contains better quality versions of both, negating the need for a port of the inferior original versions.

“We know many of our fans have put in dozens, even hundreds, of hours exploring the world of Pandora on their Xbox 360, and now they can continue their adventures on Xbox One.” 2K President, Christoph Hartmann.

It was always inevitable that 2K’s outlandish shooter would make a reappearance sooner rather than later, what with it being the only of four Borderlands titles (Tales from the Borderlands being the other) not available on Microsoft’s latest console, that and lead engineer Bill Stillwell showing off the title earlier in June.

“We are proud to support Xbox One Backward Compatibility by bringing the complete, original Borderlands to Xbox One, including all downloadable content,”

If you’ve already put a lot of hours into Borderlands you won’t be able to earn any new achievements, just the original Xbox 360 achievements, however, you will be able to play cross platform multiplayer and more importantly you can import your cloud saves as well!

Borderlands will now join the ranks of Mass Effect and the Gears of War franchise in being the first AAA titles announced to grace backward compatibility. Though there are only another couple of dozen in Preview, Microsoft have promised over 100 titles this holiday, with hundreds more in the months that follow.
