It has been reported that Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has confirmed that a sequel to Borderlands is in the works. He broke the ice when he stated “I’m sure Duke will have some demands of me and I’ve gotta work on Borderlands 2, right?”
Although he’s still dismissing claims that Borderlands 2 was in the works as late as last month, asking “What’s Borderlands 2?” in response to rumors sweeping the internet.
It wouldn’t be a shocker if Borderlands 2 was confirmed being that Borderlands one was such a success. The creative director had also given hints of a sequel when he told VG247 “a follow up would be a no- brainer.”
The original Borderlands launched on Ps3, Xbox 360 and PC back in October 2009. It’s reportedly sold over 3 million copies.
