Blizzard Hiring for Game Director on Unannounced Diablo Game

Blizzard is in the process of beginning development on a new Diablo game, and has posted a listing for a Game Director.

On the Blizzard official website hiring page there is a listing for a Game Director an unannounced Diablo project. The Game Director is perhaps the most important role in the development of a game, and so entails a large degree of responsibility – especially given how big of an IP the Diablo franchise is, and of course Blizzard being one of the more prestigious developers in the world.

The listing read: “Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a game director with outstanding communications skills, proven experience in creative direction, strong ability in system design, and a stellar track record of shipping AAA games to lead the Diablo series into the future.”

Diablo III was a very well-received game, though its launched was marred with several issues. Server trouble didn’t help the online community initially, but there was also quite a lot of criticism of the game’s system of micro-transactions and auctioning mechanics.

Given time, the game’s passionate following came around, and it was patched enough that the initial issues were more or less rectified. Four years is a long time in the gaming industry, and though we can’t speculate too much on a project we know so little about, it seems enough time has passed that what we are likely looking at is a new main series entry – as opposed to a side-game or spin-off project.

We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for a Blizzard announcement sometime in the near future for this one.
