It has been already three months since a new Overwatch hero was released; Sombra. That’s why Blizzard has jumped into the teasing train and started to make it more obvious during the last hours. There’s definitely someone coming down the development line judging by some changes applied to the public test server and also a recent Breaking News post. Both of them happen in the Numbani map and mirror each other perfectly.
If you head to the test server and access that precise map, you will see echoes of the news in the waiting room of the attacking team. Moreover, if you head to the center of the action, you will discover that Doomfist’s crystal gauntlet has also disappeared. Mere coincidence? Most likely not! Also, you can witness the disaster yourself all around.
Overwatch‘s Next Hero
As you know, Blizzard plays a very good game outside of Overwatch, creating a narrative that surpasses what we get by playing. In this case, the attack has been properly reported through social media channels and reads:
[BREAKING] OR15 defense units destroyed in confrontation with unidentified assailant at Numbani airport. No civilian casualties reported. pic.twitter.com/3XuXbCCugh
— Overwatch (@PlayOverwatch) February 24, 2017
The core of these news relates to Efi Oladele, a character that appeared under our radar this week already, in an Atlas News interview. Now, the question is as follows: is Doomfist the next Overwatch hero, or Efi? While the young inventor (Efi is just eleven years old after all) may be indeed too young to join the glorious ranks as a new Overwatch hero, some of her creations may come in handy in the battles to come.
