In yesterday’s Diablo 3 blog post Blizzard‘s John Hight announced that on March 18, 2014 the Diablo 3 Auction House would be closing its doors. He stated that the auction house ultimately undermined the core gameplay of the game, which is “kill monsters to get cool loot.”
Almost two years after Diablo 3 launched on pc, and shortly after it launched on current gen consoles Blizzard realized that the only way to fix what was originally seen as a good idea was to shut it down. “The driving goal was to provide a convenient and secure system for trades” stated John in the blog. Unfortunately too many players began to abuse the system by selling coveted gear for real world money, thus throwing Diablo‘s in game economy into chaos. This led the auction house to become a black stain on an otherwise great game.
Reaper of Souls which is set to release some time in 2014 will feature the new Crusader class, as well as new powers, and a new chapter of the game with Act V. In this DLC we will see Malthael, the angel of death, manifest in the mortal realm where he plans to steal the Black Soulstone so he can use it’s infernal power for his own diabolical purposes. In an attempt to stop him you will be able to play as the heavily armored, heavy damage dealing crusader. The new unbreakable hero of the Diablo universe.
Diablo 3 is the hit action RPG hack and slash game created by Blizzard that features a top down isometric view of the game world. You play as a hero set to make your name in the world as you battle your way through hordes of unholy beasts set on destroying the world.
