Bethesda Has Three New Games in the Works

Bethesda

Is there more to Bethesda Game Studios than The Elder Scrolls or Fallout? That is a million-dollar question that remains unanswered. For now, Bethesda is enjoying the fruits of bringing their Skyrim odyssey to the Switch and also launching the VR version of Fallout 4 – both events seem to be happening this year.

In a recent interview with Glixel, Executive Producer Todd Howard confirmed nevertheless the sheer amount of projects the studio is currently in. “We’ve got a good number of projects on the go,” he said. “We’re bigger now and we do want to be putting out more stuff”. So far, the confirmation comprises two classical Bethesda games and one mobile.

Howard’s teaser gets a little bit more interesting when he confirms size and novelty of those titles though. “I can’t talk a lot about them, but I can say that they’re bigger than anything we’ve ever done”, he said. “They’re a bit different, but definitely in the wheelhouse that people are used to from us.”

Okay, so we know that The Elder Scrolls 6 is definitely happening but that its release is a long way off. Is Howard counting it in his list or talking about other projects on top of that one? Will Bethesda Game Studios surprise us and explore a new IP? Time for speculation, we guess.

Bethesda Moving Forward with Mobile Games

Bethesda‘s journey into mobile gaming development started with Fallout Shelter. Immediately after its release, the game scored a whooping number of downloads, something of a surprise even for the studio. The fact that they have 75 million shelter managers as of now (the game keeps on receiving seasonal events and other updates) has also signaled an evident truth: that Bethesda games also succeed on the mobile platform.

It should not come as a surprise then that one of those new projects is a mobile game. In the interview, Howard went about the lessons learnt from Fallout Shelter and the horizon laid for the new one. “The one takeaway was that the game is somewhat unique, so for the thing we’re doing next we wanted to continue to do that. […] The game we’re doing is a very different style game, unique in the space”, he said.

Regardless of your platform of choice, it seems that Bethesda has plenty of projects in stock for you. What would you like to see from the studio? Are you looking forward to The Elder Scrolls 6? Let us know in the comment section!

[Editor’s note: Reminder that Bethesda Game Studios, the developer, is different than Bethesda Softworks, the publisher. This means that Prey, which Bethesda Softworks is publishing, is not a part of the three games Bethesda Game Studios is developing.]
