Bethesda Is Doing Another E3 Press Conference

Bethesda Is Doing Another E3 Press Conference

When you announce a game as big as Fallout 4, it’s no surprise that Bethesda took to the stage for their first ever E3 press conference last year to do so.

The publisher announced this week that they’ve decided to give it another go.

While Fallout 4’s announcement was a “surprise,” it was hardly a shock thanks to script leaks and whispers throughout the industry. This year, however, there’s nothing really on the publisher’s radar. Aside from a possible new announcement, expect Bethesda’s E3 presser to go over the following games:

  • DOOM
  • Elder Scrolls Online
  • Dishonored 2
  • BattleCry
  • Elder Scrolls Legends

Are these games enough to carry an entire press conference? Could we get details about an upcoming Fallout 4 expansion? Will Bethesda surprise everyone with a brand new game announcement? I honestly wouldn’t be surprised by any of these scenarios. While other companies (Nintendo and EA) scale back their E3 presence, Bethesda continues to assert themselves onto the scene. Whether or not their efforts will continue be worth it remains to be seen. While Fallout 4 was a guaranteed success for Bethesda, DOOM is going to be little bit trickier, and Dishonored won’t have the name mainstream appeal as Fallout.

This could be a move by the publisher to simply state to the gaming world that they’re one of the “big boys” now. Their recent track record in terms of quality would absolutely indicate this: Fallout 4 was our Game of the Year for 2015. Wolfenstein: The New Order was one of the better single-player shooters in recent memory (even if I did miss the franchise’s multiplayer.) You know they’d love to hop back on stage this summer and proclaim “we’re just getting started, here’s some more goodies for you in 2016.”

We’ll see if they can back that up soon enough.
