The Behemoth Announces Release Date for Castle Crashers Remastered

Back in June, The Behemoth, makers of Castle Crashers, announced that they would be developing a remaster of their seven-year-old Xbox Live classic aptly titled, Castle Crashers Remastered.

Yesterday in a blog postThe Behemoth announced the release date for Castle Crashers Remastered will be September 9th, 2015 on the Xbox OneThe Behemoth have also introduced a panoply of changes to the game: twice the framerate of the original, new multiplayer mini-game, performance updates, gameplay tweaks, and easier matchmaking for online co-op play.

Current Xbox Live Gold members will be receiving Castles Crashers Remastered  for free up until September 20th, if they owned the original Castle Crashers on the Xbox 360. This, of course, is an incredibly, generous offer from The Behemoth that some AAA developers could maybe pay attention to when remastering their games — *cough* Sony *cough*

If you are a procrastinator, like myself, and miss out on the September 20th deadline for getting Castle Crashers Remastered for free, The Behemoth will be offering a discount on the regular price of $14.99; starting September 21st, 2015 current Xbox Live Gold members that were owners of the original Castle Crashers will be able to purchase the game for $5 — another generous offer.

For Xbox One owners who previously owned Castle Crashers, but aren’t current Xbox Live Gold members the original game will be made available through Xbox One‘s backwards compatibility later this year. However, The Behemoth notes the original version of Castle Crashers will not have any of the updates and tweaks Castle Crashers Remastered received.

I’m personally tired of remasters, even if they are of games that I loved playing nearly a decade ago. But The Behemoth seems to be approaching Castle Crashers Remastered as a reissue of the classic game considering the massive, although limited, discount of free-ninety-nine.
