Were you excited to see Battlefield 4 beta finally available for the ol’ reliable PC? Unfortunately, if you haven’t noticed yet, the Battlefield 4 beta is 64-bit only.
The news, broke out by DICE, which was then confirmed with launch of the beta yesterday. The focus on 64-bit is unfortunate for many, but we often forget that these betas are only for the purpose of testing on machines and not for pure enjoyment. They’re not your traditional demos that represent a slice of a finished product. Rather a beta is a representation of an unfinished product and developers will test what they think needs testing.
If you’re afraid of ol’ reliable’s ability to play the full version, don’t be. DICE has been pretty clear that the full game will run on 32-bit systems just fine enough however in the case of this beta, it will only need to be tested on newer 64-bit computers. Then again, maybe this beta is a good time to upgrade to 64-bit.
Battlefield 4 will launch on 32-bit and 64-bit PCs, PS3, Xbox 360 on October 29, and it’ll launch PS4 and Xbox One on November 12 and November 19 respectively.
