Speculation has been mounting that series creator Rocksteady has been working on a new game in the Batman: Arkham universe. Today, they unveiled their plans for Batman: Arkham Knight, the third, and final, take on DC’s Dark Knight.
While last year’s Batman: Arkham Origins was a solid, if still iterative, game, Rocksteady promises to bring new ideas to the series with Batman: Arkham Knight. A new area of Gotham City will be open for exploration, and the Batmobile is drivable for the first time.
Sefton Hill, Game Director of Rocksteady’s entire trilogy, is excited for the new chapter, and for the new innovations that next gen hardware can provide the team.
“We’re excited to be developing the game for next-gen platforms, which has allowed us to bring to life the design elements that we envisioned from the beginning such as the Batmobile and how it augments Batman’s abilities, to the fully detailed and realized Gotham City.”
The story will once again unite Batman’s greatest foes, this time led by Scarecrow. Fans can expect to see Two-Face, Penguin and Harley Quinn, along with a few surprises. Below, we’ve posted the lengthy announcement trailer showing several villains, the new Batmobile, and Batman himself.
Batman: Arkham Knight releases this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
