Atari Celebrates 40 Years of Gaming!

Everybody knows Atari. They’ve done so much to jump-start the gaming market. They’ve gone toe to toe with the big gaming greats of the past and have solidified their place in gaming history.

So, Atari is 40 years old this year! Isn’t that cool? Atari hasn’t been the same since they got out of the hardware race, but they’re still around and kicking. Over the years we’ve seen good and bad games come out of Atari. Some cool games include: Centipede, Millipede, Test Drive, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters, Pong, BreakOut, Tempest, Asteroids, Mrs. Pac Man, Asteroids, Space Invaders.

I don’t want to soil the name too much, but everybody knows ET is one of the most infamous movie-games in the history. Some might even say that it was the first bite of forbidden fruit that we bit into that cursed every movie-game after it.

As part of there birthday bash, Atari is also holding a tent of promotions for their games across multiple platforms.

Atari’s Greatest Hits Pro for Android is free on Amazon.

Another exciting promotion is very easy to be a part of and is something you probably do forty times a day regardless. If you Like Atari’s 40th birthday bash on facebook, you’ll be entered to win prizes over four days. But that’s not all! If 2,000 or more people share the sweepstakes on facebook through the sign-up form, a big prize is unlocked! What is the prize? A signed Asteroids poster by founder of Atari, Nolan Bushnell!

For fans of Atari who’ve been itching for content Atari has released a variant of Centipede called Centipede: Origins on the App Store and Play Store!

Here’s to 40 more years, Atari! Cheers!
