Assassin's Creed: Unity Owners Will Get Free DLC & Season Pass Owners To Be Offered a Free Ubisoft Game

Given the rough launch and continued game-breaking bugs plaguing Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Ubisoft is offering the game’s first downloadable expansion, Dead Kings, to all players free of charge as compensation.

“Unfortunately, at launch, the overall quality of the game was diminished by bugs and unexpected technical issues,” said Yannis Mallat, Ubisoft Montreal & Toronto CEO. “I want to sincerely apologize on behalf of Ubisoft and the entire Assassin’s Creed team. These problems took away from your enjoyment of the game, and kept many of you from experiencing the game at its fullest potential.”

Speaking on the studio’s effort in fixing the bugs and technical issues, Mallat went on to detail the upcoming patch that will aim to fix general gameplay issues, AI behavior, UI bugs, and a variety of other solutions to the preexisting issues found in Assassin’s Creed: Unity. You can read the detailed version of the patch notes through here.

Mallat continued, “To show our appreciation for your continued support, we’re making the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Unity Dead Kings DLC free for everyone. For Season Pass holders [as well as those who bought the Gold Edition of Assassin’s Creed Unity (which includes the season pass)], we will also offer the choice of one additional game from a selection of Ubisoft titles for free.”

If you’re one of the lucky – or not so lucky – Season Pass/Gold Edition owners, you’ll be able to choose from six Ubisoft games once the promotion goes live. The games are: The Crew, Far Cry 4, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Rayman Legends and Just Dance 2015.

Though it was mentioned the Season Pass will be discontinued, Mallat made a point to explain that current Season Pass owners will still receive all other bonuses as promised, including Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China. There was no mention when Dead Kings or the free game promotion would go live, so keep an eye here and we’ll be sure to have an updated story in the coming weeks.

“We will continue striving to make Assassin’s Creed one of the most ambitious and innovative franchises on the market, and we thank you for your continued loyalty and support,” Mallat concluded.
